Making changes in your life is very difficult to take hold and make them stick for a long period of time if not indefinitely. There have been many times I’ve gone through training or have taken a leadership class and thought to myself how much I want to apply what I’ve learned into my daily activities. Then, I implement them for the first week or so. Soon after, I move back into my old habits and stop applying what I’ve learned. This takes about two weeks. So, how do you stop this from happening?
Tips for Making Changes In Your Life
Tip #1 – Create a goal for yourself that identifies one item you want to incorporate into your daily life. The goal should be an activity that can be achieved on a daily basis.
Tip #2 – Don’t make the goal over complicated or too difficult. You want to set yourself up for success not failure.
Tip #3 – It’s important to only focus on one goal at a time. When making a change, you can’t change too many things otherwise you’ll lose focus.
Tip #4 – Once you feel you’ve got one of the changes firmly implanted in your life, create another goal focusing on one item again.
By making changes in your life, you will become a better person as well as a better leader. Remember to implement a goal that consists of one change that you want to make, you will set yourself up to be successfully. Over time, by making changes one at a time, they will build up to where you want to be in your life. Get started now, create a goal and prepare to start making changes in your life!
